Patriots-Colts final score: Rob Chudzinski now available with Indianapolis loss

The AFC Championship Game is a wrap, and the Colts loss means special assistant Rob Chudzinski is available for the 49ers OC job. We should see something happen sooner rather than later.

The New England Patriots stomped the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday, winning the AFC Championship Game by a final score of 45-7. The Patriots jumped on top 14-0, and while the Colts did cut the lead to 14-7, they never got any closer. The Patriots put up 31 unanswered points, and it was all over. The Patriots advance to face the Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl 49.

This game is of note for San Francisco 49ers fans because the man who could potentially be the team's next offensive coordinator becomes available with this loss. Rob Chudzinski serves as a special assistant to Colts head coach Chuck Pagano, but with the loss, he will get a chance to consider his options. While we have heard rumors of Lane Kiffin and Mike Shanahan, expect the 49ers to get Chudzinski locked up sooner rather than later. My guess is we hear something as soon as Monday.

Plenty of coaching business is getting done this Sunday evening. Gary Kubiak has been named head coach of the Denver Broncos, and Kyle Shanahan has been named offensive coordinator of the Atlanta Falcons. The Falcons do not have a head coach yet, but pretty much the entire free world expects Seattle Seahawks defensive coordinator Dan Quinn to get the job once Seattle gets through the Super Bowl. The Falcons interview Quinn once already, and they will be allowed to interview him again this week during the bye week. Look for them to get that all finalized, with Quinn taking over after the Super Bowl.
