While the San Francisco 49ers work on finding their next offensive coordinator, the St. Louis Rams are doing the same thing. The Rams saw their OC Brian Schottenheimer depart for a similar position with the University of Georgia, in a move Rams fans and others view as, a bit of a "mutual parting". Now, the Rams have a few names on the radar as they have requested permission to interview Indianapolis Colts special assistant Rob Chudzinski, and Green Bay Packers QB coach Alex Van Pelt, according to Ian Rapoport.
Until someone else is hired, I am sticking with Chudzinski as the 49ers next offensive coordinator. Of course, if this drags out with no resolution in the next day or two, then I suppose that prediction will likely prove wrong. The Colts season only ended yesterday, so Chudzinski's future should pick up some steam very soon. Well, I suppose word of these interview requests is the steam actually picking up. Ideally we'll have some kind of resolution in the next day or two.
As for yesterday's Lane Kiffin rumor? I still don't buy it, but it will be interesting to see if his name remains in the mix if Chudzinski ends up deciding he wants to go somewhere else. Kiffin has gotten the boy genius label at times, but he also has plenty of detractors. When the rumor first start circulating, I got this tweet from an Auburn fan.
