Fooch's Note: This might escalate quickly:
I have been told #Eagles head coach Chip Kelly has expressed interest in getting out of his contract.

Let me state, it was a source that works for team. Not saying it will happen, but things look bumpy within team. #Eagles

On Wednesday, the Philadelphia Eagles fired personnel man Tom Gamble, in a move that surprised a lot of people. Gamble was considered tight with head coach Chip Kelly, but general manager Howie Roseman reportedly wanted to balance out the power a bit more. The departure was described as a mutual parting, but Gamble was reportedly escorted off the property.
Earlier Friday, Pro Football Talk decided to float this information regarding the Eagles.
Plugged-in league source senses there could be "something big" going on in Philly in the aftermath of Tom Gamble's departure.

When PFT floats something like this, one has to wonder what his source is. I have an article coming later today dealing with an entirely different topic, but it is also related to PFT sourcing. In this case however, something does seem to be up given the fact that Gamble was abruptly fired and escorted off the premises. Eagles beat writer Reuben Frank sent out some tweets about the subject:
Yes. Because team vice presidents get escorted out of the building all the time RT @amriedmuller media making something out of nothing

Tom was Chip Kelly's most trusted adviser. This is not normal RT @Jpro717 people being escorted from a building standard security protocol

Tom Gamble is no longer with the team. This is not speculation RT @RyanSmoker3 they'd be addressing media speculation, not the fans.
— Reuben Frank (@RoobCSN) January 2, 2015
Actually, there is plenty of evidence. RT @RyanSmoker3 I'm speaking on the power struggle narrative. Not enough evidence to publish.

Nothing may come of it, but it is certainly a fascinating possibility. If Chip Kelly became available, he would quickly shoot to the top of the wish list of many teams. And the potential of a package deal of Gamble and Kelly is kind of fascinating. I don't know that the 49ers would be able to get in on that kind of action, but you know the rumors would fly hot and heavy.
This is all speculation at this point because anything is possible. But just for the heck of it, would you want to see the 49ers pursue Chip Kelly if he became available? If it involved a trade, what would you give up. We've had plenty of heavy conversations over the course of this week, so why not get a little out there and just go with some crazy speculation today?
