The San Francisco 49ers appear to have a linebacker coach in place. Jim Trotter appears to have confirmed that Jason Tarver will get the linebackers coach role, along with the title of senior defensive assistant.
Congrats to Jason Tarver. Moving across the bay to join the 49ers as senior defensive assistant /linebackers coach.

Tarver coached the 49ers outside linebackers from 2005-2010. He left for the Stanford defensive coordinator role when Jim Harbaugh arrived, and then took over as Oakland Raiders defensive coordinator in 2012. He was not retained when his contract expired after this past season.
The question now is who will be the defensive coordinator. The team is rumored to be talking with Eric Mangini about the role, and was reportedly denied an interview with Bengals DB coach Vance Joseph. If Jim Tomsula has a defensive scheme in mind, I suppose it is possible a defensive coordinator hire is more formality. But honestly, who knows at this point. Any other ideas on who could fill the DC role?
