New special teams coach Thomas McGaughey tweets from 49ers headquarters

After some speculation, it appears the San Francisco 49ers new special teams coach is officially hired. We take a look at one of his recent tweets.

A week ago, word got out that the San Francisco 49ers were going to hire former New York Jets special teams coordinator Thomas McGaughey to fill that role. The 49ers have not announced anything as official, but McGaughey's tweet on Monday would seem to confirm he has a job with the team.

McGaughey was the Jets special teams coordinator in 2014. Prior to that, his career included stops in both the NFL and college football. Here is a rundown of his previous jobs:

2011-2013: Special teams coordinator, LSU
2007-2010: Assistant special teams coordinator, New York Giants
2005-2006: Assistant special teams coach, Denver Broncos
2003-2004: Special teams/cornerbacks, University of Houston
2002: Special teams intern, Kansas City Chiefs
2002: Special teams coordinator, defensive backs, Scottish Claymores
2001: Coaching intern, Kansas City Chiefs
2001: Pro scouting assistant, Houston Texans
1998-2001: Special teams coordinator, defensive backs, Willowridge (TX) High School
1998: Graduate assistant, University of Houston

Playing Career: Defensive back with Barcelona Dragons (1997), Philadelphia Eagles (1996), University of Houston (1991-1995).

What do you think the odds are that this is similar to the Seinfeld episode where George Costanza is not sure if he was hired for a job, so he just shows up and assumes that must be the case? Did this pop up in anybody else's mind when you looked at McGaughey's tweet?
