Welcome back to another edition of Fooch prop bets! As Super Bowl 49 approaches, I am coming up with a short list of prop bets on which I will be wagering. The plan is to bet $10 each on a variety of these bets and see how it shakes out come Super Bowl Sunday. I discussed the coin toss and National Anthem prop bets, and today I thought I would go for something a little more "football-ish". Let's take a look at the "which player will score first" prop bet, with odds courtesy of Bovada.lv.
Only one of these players can win, so much like people will do on the roulette table, I'm going to put down a few bets and see how it shakes out. Down below I have posted the full odds for first to score. This is to score a rushing or receiving touchdown. Tom Brady passing for a touchdown would not pay off, but Brady rushing for a touchdown would pay off.
Marshawn Lynch is the favorite, for good reason. A $10 wager on Lynch will pay off $55. If I place $10 bets on three or four players, a Lynch payoff would cover my bets and leave me with a small profit. I'm inclined to do the same with Gronk. Lynch and Gronk are the best offensive weapons on their respective teams, at least as far as this wager is concerned.
I have tried to then decide if I want to wager on a long-shot, just to keep it interesting. Tim Wright at 20/1 is an interesting one given that he scored six touchdowns this season. One problem is that he only played a combined eight snaps in the first two rounds of the playoffs. That would not seem to bode well for his chances in this prop bet. Danny Amendola is another interesting option at 20/1. It appears he has taken Wright's snaps, and he did have a pair of touchdowns in the Patriots playoff win over the Ravens.
Who would you go with in this kind of wager?
Marshawn Lynch (SEA) RB 11/2
Rob Gronkowski (NE) TE 13/2
LeGarrette Blount (NE) RB 9/1
Julian Edelman (NE) WR 10/1
