I'm not sure if anybody can read this through the thick smoke hovering over the burning ashes of the San Francisco 49ers offseason. Every time I think things can't get worse, the 49ers go and do something really stupid like make Eric Mangini a defensive coordinator or Geep Chryst an offensive coordinator.
Now, I understand you guys have talked about this stuff to no end and you don't need me weighing in, but I've been out for a few days and this is my chance to wallow in my element. I'm a natural pessimist, you see. Sometimes I'll try and claim I'm a realist, but that's mainly just to make people I'm arguing with angry. I'm really quite pessimistic and I'm not happy unless I'm miserable, so good on the 49ers for these highly questionable hires.
The 49ers have a talented roster and some decent coaches. I just hope that's enough to lead them to a competitive team next season, in spite of the ownership and in spite of the chaos. I'm just getting more and more confident that's not going to happen as the days go by. Who's miserable with me? Judging by the results of this recent poll, a fair number of you.
Onto your links for the day!
