Good morning everyone. The never ending search for the next 49ers coach continued yesterday with no end in sight. I have seen multiple reports from different media outlets since the release of Jim Harbaugh, claiming that one candidate or another is the front runner. I almost feel sorry for reporters sometimes, there are so many purposeful leaks in the business form so many different sides. A lot of the time, "scoops" are just an agent, or a front office strategically using them to create leverage. The off season, particularly coach hiring, free agency, and the draft, are ripe with misinformation. I find that even with the bug guys like Adam Schefter or Jay Glazer, it's best to take "reports" and "I'm hearing" with a huge grain of salt.
The other news from the past few days is Colin Kaepernick going to Arizona over the weekend to train with a a group including Kurt Warner. He is going to spend 11 weeks over there to reportedly work on some of the mental aspects of his game, such as film study. After this season, I am doubtful that Colin Kaepernick will magically turn into a capable pocket QB, but hey, I don't think he needs to be prototypical. If the 49ers let Colin play all year like he did in the final weeks of the season, the 49ers still might be playing. Harbaugh and Roman tried to turn him into a pocket passer and it failed. I hope that whoever comes in next takes these steps gradually. If Colin wants to be effective into his 30's he needs to get better in the pocket. But for the foreseeable future, the 49ers can be a great team with him taking off at the first sign of danger. To the links!
