Teryl Austin interview goes well, one person thinks Adam Gase and Josh McDaniels might be leading

The 49ers coaching search continues, and it sounds like Teryl Austin had himself a solid interview. We break down some of the latest tidbits about the search.

The San Francisco 49ers head coach search had another interview on Thursday, with Detroit Lions defensive coordinator Teryl Austin meeting with the team. The latest list of interviews will wrap up on Friday when Todd Bowles meets with the team. There has been no word on when or if Jim Tomsula will interview, and we don't know if there will be follow-up interviews. My guess is that the front office takes the weekend to determine the next head coach, which could potentially mean formal announcement Monday, leaked information over the weekend.

As we have gone through these interviews, we have heard reports of different candidates impressing. The latest is Austin, who Jason LaCanfora said made a strong impression on the 49ers. I suppose that could mean it was a strong bad impression, but I am guessing that means it was a good impression. I don't think we can really take a whole lot from a "good impression", but it would potentially at least mean he remains on the radar for now. LaCanfora also said the Bills and Falcons could be landing spots for Austin.

Mike Garafolo got into a discussion with a 49ers fan about the 49ers situation, and he thinks Adam Gase or Josh McDaniels are the more likely coaches. This is just one man's opinion, but one could say it sort of goes against the grain of prevailing opinions on the topic.
