It's game time! The San Francisco 49ers are back for their Week 5 matchup with the New York Giants. The game will be under the bright lights of prime time, as NBC is airing it on Sunday Night Football. Kickoff is set for 5:30 p.m. PT at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. The 49ers enter the game at 1-3, coming off a loss to the Green Bay Packers in which they could not get their offense going. The Giants are 2-2, coming off a win over the Buffalo Bills.
The 49ers are not exactly wowing anybody right now, coming into this game with three straight losses. They got the defense moving in the right direction against the Packers. The problem is the offense was absolutely abysmal, its second consecutive awful performance. We might see some changes to the offensive line, but will that even matter? The line is a big problem, but Colin Kaepernick has struggled the last two weeks even when he has had time to throw. They'll need both the line and Kap to get it together if they want to spring any kind of upset.
We'll have a few threads throughout the course of the game, and a recap immediately after. One thing I have added to the threads this year is the 49ers media Twitter list. If you cannot watch the game, you can follow some of the updates in there/ We'll have plenty to break down after the game, but for now, here's your first quarter game thread. Along with it is a rundown of pertinent information related to the game.
