Week 5 of the 2015 NFL season wraps up on Monday evening as the San Diego Chargers host the Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday Night Football. The game kicks off at 5:30 p.m. PT, and airs on ESPN. Jon Gruden and Mike Tirico have the call.
Both teams are 2-2, and stuck behind an undefeated team. The Chargers trail the 5-0 Denver Broncos, and are a half game ahead of the 2-3 Oakland Raiders. The Steelers trail the 5-0 Cincinnati Bengals, and are a half game ahead of the 2-3 Cleveland Browns. There's something almost symmetrical about that. The Broncos have a better defense than the Bengals, but Peyton Manning is a worse quarterback than Andy Dalton right now. Manning's fall was going to happen eventually, and it is now happening in a hurry.
The Steelers lost Michael Vick's first start in place of Ben Roethlisberger, losing on Thursday Night Football to the Baltimore Ravens by a score of 23-20. Vick has had extra prep time for this week, so we'll see if the passing game is a bit more on track. Or maybe they just continue to ride Le'Veon Bell until Roethlisberger gets back.
The Chargers are coming off a 30-27 home win over the
San Diego Chargers Cleveland Browns. Rivers is having to deal with a banged up offensive line. His left guard is out, his left tackle is doubtful, and his center and right guard are both questionable. The Steelers defense isn't particularly good, but that kind of problem on the offensive line could definitely boost the Steelers defense. We'll see.
