Jim Tomsula updated Reggie Bush injury, Vernon Davis injury, Ahmad Brooks status

San Francisco 49ers head coach Jim Tomsula updated the media on some injury and status issues as the 49ers begin preparations for their Week 6 game against the Baltimore Ravens.

The San Francisco 49ers have a few personnel issues to sort through this week, and Jim Tomsula provided some updates in his Monday press conference. The team had one new injury with Reggie Bush, but also have to figure out the statuses of Vernon Davis and Ahmad Brooks heading into Week 6.

Reggie Bush

Re-injured his calf early in Sunday Night Football, and did not return to the game. On Monday, Tomsula said the calf tightened up as opposed to a more significant strain. He did not know what it would mean for Bush this coming week, and whether or not Mike Davis would be back on the active 46. My guess is we do see Davis active and Bush inactive this weekend, but we'll get a better handle as the practice participation reports arrive on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

Vernon Davis

Inactive due to his knee injury, even though he got in three days of limited workouts. Tomsula said the plan had been for Davis to play, but "wasn't where it needed to be on Friday", and so he was inactive. Ideally this means he is back this coming weekend, and Tomsula indicated he thought he would probably be able to play. Whether Davis is or is not active, the bigger question is if McDonald has yet been officially demoted behind Garrett Celek.

Ahmad Brooks

Absent due to the death of his sister. His agent said he should be back for the Week 6 game against the Baltimore Ravens, but the funeral is scheduled for Wednesday. He could attend and be back on Thursday, but his status remains up in the air. Corey Lemonier started in his place, but Eli Harold ended up with more snaps against the Giants.
