Shareece Wright to sign with Ravens after Baltimore lost Will Davis to torn ACL

Former San Francisco 49ers cornerback Shareece Wright has quickly found a new home. The Baltimore Ravens needed a warm body following Will Davis's injury, and Wright fits the bill.

The San Francisco 49ers host the Baltimore Ravens this weekend, and they will welcome an old friend to town. Ian Rapoport is reporting brief 49ers cornerback Shareece Wright is signing with Baltimore. The Ravens placed Will Davis on injured reserve following a torn ACL, and thus were in the market for cornerback help.

The 49ers released Wright over the weekend, and he was quickly making his way around looking for a new job. He entered 49ers training camp apparently starting opposite Tramaine Brock. However, things changed fairly quickly, with Kenneth Acker, Dontae Johnson and Keith Reaser all getting first team defense work. Eventually Acker won the job, and Wright was not pleased. He complained and reportedly asked for a trade or release. The team finally granted it over the weekend.

It will be interesting to see how much playing time he gets in this first game for the Ravens. He's got most of the week to learn the playbook. He got practice time against Colin Kaepernick and the first string offense during training camp. Considering how quickly his role diminished, I don't see much of an advantage in that regard. But if he does play, you know he'll at least be playing with some motivation about his (briefly) former team.
