On a primetime nationally televised game, the Niners fell in agonizing fashion to Eli Manning and the New York Giants. After terrible performances the last 3 weeks, the Niners showed a bit of fight to score a lead late against the Giants. It was not enough to win the game, but the team had positives to take away from the game.

Colin Kaepernick had his best game since Week 2 at Pittsburgh. He finished the game 23 for 35 with 262 yards and 2 touchdowns. He started the game slow, but eventually got into a flow and had some nice passes. He feed Anquan Boldin for 8 catches for 107 yards and a touchdown. Kap didn't target Torrey Smith much, but when he did, Torrey was able to make some catches and force some key penalties. Carlos Hyde also had a better game with 93 yards rushing and a touchdown.

The defense was torched for 525 total yards. Eli was on fire passing with 414 yards on 41/54 passing. He threw 3 touchdowns including the killer 12 yard game-winning touchdown to Larry Donnell. NaVorro Bowman had fairly good coverage on the play, but the pass and catch were exquisite. Antoine Bethea was a little late arriving to make a play on the ball. The 49ers defense was able to generate some pressure, but still could not record a sack on Eli.

The team showed that they still have talent on the team. Coaching is still an issue. The passing defense keeps getting torched and it shows no signs of being solved. The offense is taking too long to get going in these games. The coaches need to have better game plans if they expect to win.
