Carlos Hyde aggravates foot injury in third quarter vs. Ravens

Carlos Hyde is dealing with a foot injury, and it does not seem to be going away. We break down the latest news.

The San Francisco 49ers are in a tough game against the Baltimore Ravens, and they are going to have to win this with a banged up Carlos Hyde. The 49ers running back appeared to aggravate his foot injury early in the third quarter, going down without contact. He returned to the game, but was not on the field to start a series later in the quarter. Trainers have been looking at his foot, according to media on hand, and he has been trying to walk and jog it off.

If it was indeed the foot (as it appears), this injury is likely to be a problem all season long. Hyde missed Wednesday and Thursday practice, and then was limited on Friday. Offensive coordinator Geep Chryst discussed the injury on Thursday, and compared it to an injury Jonathan Stewart dealt with coming out of Oregon. According to our Carolina Panthers blog, Stewart missed a lot of practice during the week, and took pain killers on game day. He eventually had offseason foot surgery and the problem has not returned.

If the injuries are in fact similar, this might be how things play out this season. It is something we'll be tracking every week.
