Sometimes what you need to look good is to face somebody even more dismal than you. That's exactly what the Baltimore Ravens provided the 49ers as Colin Kaepernick and crew were able to rebound strong from 4 straight losses. Neither of these teams are elite this year, but against the Ravens' hideous secondary, Kap looked elite enough.
He was able to make even more big plays than last week as he hit Anquan Boldin, Torrey Smith, and Bruce Miller almost at will. It's definitely a good confidence booster for the Niners QB and his offense especially since the Seahawks are up next. If you think the 49ers are in turmoil, what do you think Seattle is going through right now since they were expected to be the top Super Bowl contender this year? But that's another story.
On the other side of the ball, the defense is still very much inconsistent. They have been very stout against the run, but the secondary is still leaky and prone to the big play burn. The pass rush was again absent today and apparently, no one on this team "loves da sack". I think for the remainder of the season we will be looking at more up and down performances from both the offense and defense, and it might be a struggle just to match last year's 8-8 record. But a win is a win, so we all need to whoop it up and enjoy it cause Thursday Night Football is coming up fast.
