Week 6 of the 2015 NFL season wraps up on Monday evening as the Philadelphia Eagles host the New York Giants on Monday Night Football. The game kicks off at 5:30 p.m. PT, and airs on ESPN. Jon Gruden and Mike Tirico have the call.
The Giants are 3-2 following their come-from-behind victory over the 49ers last week. The Giants lost their first two games, but have won three straight. Their pass defense is abysmal, while the run defense is looking pretty solid. On the other side, the Eagles are 2-3, coming off a big home win over the New Orleans Saints. The Eagles seem to finally have their run game going, following an awful start for DeMarco Murray. They still have an inconsistent Sam Bradford at quarterback, so that could keep them from reaching their full potential.
The Eagles are a 4.5-point favorite in this one. I picked the Giants, however. Favorites have not had a lot of success in primetime. Through last night's Patriots-Colts game, prime time underdogs are 12-5-1 ATS. This week, Indianapolis lost but covered against New England on Sunday Night Football, and the Saints won outright against the favored Falcons on Thursday Night Football. The Giants were part of that last week, winning but failing to cover against the 49ers on Sunday Night Football.
I'm not sure what explains those numbers, but I'm riding it for tonight's game. The big question though is how effective Odell Beckham Jr. will be. He suffered a hamstring strain against the 49ers last week, and was unable to practice this week. Giants head coach Tom Coughlin said he could play this week without practicing, but I'm sure he will have to test the hamstring Monday evening before the game gets going to make sure he doesn't feel any problems.
