49ers-Ravens defensive snap count: NaVorro Bowman gets work, will Gerald Hodges get shot on Thursday?

The San Francisco 49ers had a busy day on defense against the Baltimore Ravens. We break down the snap count, and what it might mean moving forward.

The San Francisco 49ers defense just barely got the job done on Sunday, but the win was secured. The Baltimore Ravens trial 25-20, and quickly drove down into the 49ers side of the field. They took a shot with a Hail Mary, but it came up short, and the 49ers held on to improve to 2-4.

The 49ers defensive snap count for the game does not reveal anything shocking. Tank Carradine remains at the bottom of the defensive line rotation. He is just not doing a whole lot of much at his nickel defensive tackle role. He came into the league with solid edge speed, but the 49ers had him put on some weight and move inside. It seems to be counter-productive, but that's life I suppose.

A week after Jim Tomsula suggested the team would keep an eye on NaVorro Bowman's snap count, he had another day of huge work. He played all 77 snaps. He was getting looked at briefly on the sideline late in the game, but it apparently was just some quick chiropractic work to help keep him loose. Gerald Hodges was inactive for a second straight week. It remains to be seen when exactly he will get an opportunity, but given the short week, it might make sense to have him there to spell Bowman and Wilhoite on occasion.
