The San Francisco 49ers dropped to 2-5 on the season with their Thursday Night Football loss to the Seattle Seahawks. While the loss sucks, getting the game out of the way means we can at least sort of attempt to enjoy Sunday football this week.
The 49ers season is circling the drain, but one "upside" to that if you will is the push for a better draft pick. It has been some time since we were thinking draft this early. The 0-5 start to the 2010 season would be the last such time. And given how this coaching staff and team seem to operate, it feels like the Mike Singletary all over again!
There are 12 games on Sunday, and then Monday Night Football as well. Draft order is far from complete, but we are slowly getting an idea of who will be high and who will be low. The 49ers slipped from No. 7 to No. 12 with their win over the Baltimore Ravens. The 49ers will climb at least one spot, as the Seattle Seahawks were one spot ahead of them. A lot of the 2-4 teams are facing 2-3 teams, so while nothing could change with all of those games, odds are probably decent of some maneuvering.
I've dropped in the pre-TNF draft order down below. Technically, every single game has some bearing on draft order. Teams will finished tied in the standings, and strength of schedule will decide who gets the tiebreaker edge. I have also highlighted in black the teams that currently have better draft positioning than the 49ers. You can root for 2-4 teams against 2-3 teams, but obviously there are enough games left that draft order has a long way to go before it gets close to finalized.
3-3 Bills @ 1-5 Jaguars
2-3 Bucs @ 2-4 Washington
5-1 Falcons @ 1-4 Titans
2-4 Saints @ 3-3 Colts
3-2 Vikings @ 1-5 Lions
4-2 Steelers @ 1-5 Chiefs
2-4 Browns @ 2-3 Rams
2-4 Texans @ 2-3 Dolphins
4-1 Jets @ 5-0 Patriots
2-3 Raiders @ 2-4 Chargers
2-3 Cowboys @ 3-3 Giants
3-3 Eagles @ 5-0 Panthers
1-5 Ravens @ 4-2 Cardinals
