Golden Nuggets: Losing Antoine Bethea is huge for 49ers

Losing Antoine Bethea for the season is a huge, huge blow to a secondary that is already the league's worst. Eric Reid is not playing well, Kenneth Acker is not playing well, Tramaine Brock has his moments and nobody else inspires a whole lot of confidence. I feel good about Jaquiski Tartt going forward, but he's no Bethea.

Bethea was another in a long line of really solid secondary signings, but even his high level of play hasn't done enough to help the San Francisco 49ers this season. I really don't know what the future of the secondary is at this point, but my gut tells me that none of the young guys currently on the roster are nearly as good as we hope they'll be. I like Dontae Johnson more than Acker personally, but the 49ers don't seem to know how to use him.

I hope Tartt shows some good things this year, but I suspect things are about to get even uglier than usual. Onto the links, 49ers fans.
