49ers-Rams injury report: Colin Kaepernick practices with thumb injury

The 49ers and Rams Wednesday practice participation reports for Week 8 are out. We break them down.

The San Francisco 49ers and St. Louis Rams released their first practice participation reports of the week, and things are about what we should expect. As will likely be the case the entire season, NaVorro Bowman and Carlos Hyde both sat out Wednesday's practice. Bowman should be back in full on Thursday and Friday, while Hyde will likely be limited the next two days.

Colin Kaepernick is listed with a right hand injury, but it is specifically a thumb injury. He had a bandage on after Thursday's game, and there was apparently some swelling, but nothing else. Kap said he has been able to practice fine, and the listing of "full participation" indicates as much.

Beat writer reports from practice had Ahmad Brooks and Eric Reid wearing blue non-contact jerseys. Both are expected to play, but the blue jerseys help them avoid unnecessary mid-week contact. Boone and Staley seem like guys who will be dealing with nagging issues most of the rest of the season. Cam Inman is reporting Tony Jerod-Eddie is back in Texas dealing with a family matter. There is no word on his status the rest of the week.
