We're back for Week 8 of Thursday Night Football! The AFC East is in the spotlight, as the New England Patriots host the Miami Dolphins, with the game set to kick off at 5:30 p.m. PT on CBS. I believe NFL Network will be simulcasting the game, but if you have a TV, you can just enjoy this on CBS.
The Patriots are unbeaten on the season, but are coming off two particularly tough games. They held off the New York Jets last week at home, and the Indianapolis Colts the week before on the road. They are expected to have running back Dion Lewis back in the lineup, but he is likely not at 100 percent due to an abdominal injury.
The Dolphins are 3-3, but this is not the same Dolphins team that started the year. After a boring 1-3 start, the Dolphins fired head coach Joe Philbin, and replaced him with tight ends coach Dan Campbell in an interim role. The Dolphins have won two straight, blowing out Tennessee and Houston. It remains to be seen where this Dolphins team will be when January rolls around. On the one hand, they do seem to be playing better. On the other hand, the Titans and Texans are not good football teams. This TNF matchup is a big test for them.
The Patriots opened as a 7.5-point favorite, and are currently around an 8.5-point favorite, with lines varying between eight and 9.5-points. The Dolphins are a tempting underdog, but I'm going with the Patriots to cover in this one. They are leaps and bounds better than the two teams the Dan Campbell-led Dolphins have beaten, and I think Miami comes back to earth a bit tonight.
Here is everything you need to know about tonight's game.
