If you haven't caught on yet, the San Francisco 49ers offense isn't producing many fantasy worthy performances this year. This figures to be the case again as the team travels to St. Louis. There are a few surprises buried in what should be a mostly defensive matchup. Here is a quick look at the players you might want on your FanDuel roster this week.
Colin Kaepernick: $6600 (Down $300)
It's been a bad week for #7, but there are some interesting statistical nuggets in his favor this week. For one he has never thrown an interception against the St. Louis Rams and even dropped a 343/3TD game on them on the road last season. However, he is still not a recommended play with the offense struggling and a Rams defense that gets to the quarterback early and often. If you need a cheap QB go with Jameis Winston or Alex Smith who both have better matchups (both $6600).
Carlos Hyde: $6200 (Down $600)
He's cheap, I can say that. He's also injured and working with one of the worst offensive lines in the league. He'll get all the goal line work if the 49er offense can create the opportunity, but that is big "if". Give me Danny Woodhead against Baltimore for the same price.
Anquan Boldin: $6000 (Down $300)
He's a sneaky play this week given his history against the Rams. "Q" delivered two 90 yard 1 TD games in 2014. This isn't last year's team and Boldin is a year older, but he should be good for at least 5 catches and 75 yards and he is getting end zone targets. If you are shaky on Boldin, Steve Johnson at $5900 against theBaltimore Ravens makes me smile.
Torrey Smith: $5700 (Down $300)
He's a threat to hit a long one, but the risk isn't worth the reward when you could have Marvin Jones for $5400.
Vernon Davis: $4800 (Up $100)
If you are going to punt the position at least do it with the better red zone threat in Kyle Rudolph at the same price.
Rams of Interest
Todd Gurley ($8100)
He's the next big thing and he'll be a popular pick this week with a very favorable matchup. If you want to use RB1 as an opportunity to play contrarian give Doug Martin ($7500) a look. He's cheaper and could be a real factor if the Bucs can keep the game close.
St. Louis Defense ($5100)
The 49ers aren't a good team. As noted above, Kaepernick has never thrown a pick against the Rams, but he is also a wreck right now. The sacks should be there and this game doesn't have the makings of a shootout on paper. Those with fewer dollars to spend should look towards the Minnesota Vikings ($4700) who get Jay Cutler and the Chicago Bears.
