Golden Nuggets: Bring on the Packers!

Sunday, October 4th, 2015 edition of the Golden Nuggets, a daily compilation of San Francisco 49ers links from around the Internet.

Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sports

Every Sunday, I'm covering the full slate of football games for SB Nation, and while this excited me at first prior to the season beginning, I realized quickly that it had one fatal flaw. That flaw wasn't that I couldn't focus properly on San Francisco 49ers games -- no, I rewatch those so many times it hardly matters what I take in on my first viewing -- but that I can no longer turn to drinking when the 49ers are .... being the 49ers.

See, my employer rather frowns on me kicking back a few beers or some hard liquor when I'm at work. It's a pretty lame rule, if you ask me, but it's one I have to abide by because I sure do like it when I get paid money to write things about football. But yes, the 49ers are definitely in one of those "I need a beer" seasons, even if they turn out relatively OK this year.

I doubt they'll turn out relatively OK when it comes to today's game against the Green Bay Packers. I'm just not sure how the 49ers find a way to win this game given how they've looked in recent weeks. That doesn't mean they can't win, it just means they've given me no reason to assume they would. Still, I'll have one eye on the game and I'll be rooting hard, if silently. Go Niners!
