49ers-Packers inactives: Vernon Davis, Mike Davis, DeAndrew White all inactive

The San Francisco 49ers welcome back running back Reggie Bush and wide receiver Bruce Ellington. We break down what the team's inactive report means.

The San Francisco 49ers and Green Bay Packers announced their inactives for Week 4, and as expected, Vernon Davis is inactive. He sat out all three practices this week, and was listed as doubtful on the final injury report.

Reggie Bush and Bruce Ellington are both active for the first time since Week 1. Bush injured his calf against the Minnesota Vikings, while Ellington injured his ankle either in that game or in practice the following week. Bush will provide a complementary look at running back. Mike Davis has handled the bulk of running back carries behind Carlos Hyde the last two weeks, but is inactive this week.

Ellington's return has DeAndrew White inactive. This likely means Ellington will be handling kick returns, with Jarryd Hayne sticking with punt returns. Ellington also will potentially get in the mix as the team's third receiver, and possible gadget play option.

49ers inactives: WR DeAndrew White, RB Mike Davis, CB Shareece Wright, OG Brandon Thomas, OL Ian Silberman, NT Mike Purcell, TE Vernon Davis

Packers inactives: WR Davante Adams, S Morgan Burnett, OT Bryan Bulaga, QB Brett Hundley, CB Demetri Goodson, LB Jake Ryan, G Lane Taylor
