Week 4 of the 2015 NFL season wraps up on Monday evening as the Seattle Seahawks host the Detroit Lions on Monday Night Football. The game kicks off at 5:30 p.m. PT, and airs on ESPN. Jon Gruden and Mike Tirico have the call.
The Lions are struggling, but they have caught a break heading into this game. The Seahawks have already ruled Marshawn Lynch out due to a hamstring injury suffered last week against the Chicago bears. Thomas Rawls will start in his place. Rawls had a great game in relief of Lynch, but obviously the Lions would much rather be facing him over Lynch. Fred Jackson will be the primary backup, and likely get a decent amount of third down work.
The Seahawks were a ten-point favorite when I picked them to win. The line has come down to 9.5, but not any more, even with Lynch out. I am guessing most lines built in an absent or less than 100 percent Lynch in setting the line. I picked the Seahawks in part because of circadian rhythms study in which Pacific time zone teams covered at a good rate when hosting Eastern time zone teams in prime time. When the game gets into the second half, it is 10 p.m. or later for the eastern team. The Pacific time team doesn't cover every time, but I'll give the numbers a whirl!
That being said, I am always fine with rooting against the Seahawks. They are 1-2, and a win would put them into a tie with the St. Louis Rams a game back of the Arizona Cardinals. I thought the Rams would give the Cardinals a battle, but I did not see it ending up as a road upset. The NFC West just got a little more interesting.
