Ahmad Brooks to miss Sunday's game following sister's death from Lupus

Sad news for Ahmad Brooks and his family. His sister has passed away from Lupus, according to his agent. Jim Tomsula had said Brooks was away for family reasons, and he was in the team's prayers. Brooks's agent told Adam Schefter that Brooks will not play this Sunday when the San Francisco 49ers face the New York Giants. I would imagine he will be spending this time in Virginia with his family. Best wishes to the Brooks family during this difficult time.

His absence means either Corey Lemonier or Eli Harold will move into the starting lineup on Sunday, opposite Aaron Lynch. The team might promote Marcus Rush from the practice squad, but they could simply elect to go with three outside linebackers. They did that the first two weeks, so it would not be entirely crazy. Rush had a strong preseason, but even if active, he probably would see few if any defensive snaps.
