Big congrats to running back Frank Gore. The former San Francisco 49ers star continued his climb up the all-time rushing leaderboard on Thursday in the Colts 27-20 win over the Houston Texans. Gore rushed 22 times for 98 yards and a touchdown. He entered the game with 11,300 career rushing yards. His TNF performance moved him past John Riggins and Steven Jackson, and he is now No. 16 all time. He is 297 yards back of Fred Taylor for No. 15 all-time.
I had planned on covering Frank Gore's bigger games, and this includes movement up the career rushing leaderboard. Barring an injury, he should be able to move past Taylor. After that, it is another 379 yards to Thurman Thomas at No. 14 all-time. Gore likely will be back next season, and he could climb past a whole host of backs. Here is how the leaderboard currently stands ahead of Gore:
16. Frank Gore - 11,398
15. Fred Taylor - 11,695
14. Thurman Thomas - 12,074
13. Franco Harris - 12,120
12. Marcus Allen - 12,243
11. Edgerrin James - 12,246
10. Marshall Faulk - 12,279
9. Jim Brown - 12,312
