NFL Draft order 2016: The 49ers position, and a look at the top ten draft prospects

The San Francisco 49ers currently hold the eighth pick of the 2016 NFL Draft. We break down the current draft order, as well as look at the top the prospects for the draft.

The 2016 NFL Draft is a little over five months away, but we are getting a pretty good handle on what teams will be in the top half of the draft board. The final order still has two months of shaping, but we know the San Francisco 49ers look to be picking in the top half of the board.

I've posted the new top ten as it stands heading into Monday Night Football. The Houston Texans travel to face the Cincinnati Bengals tonight to close out Week 10. If the Texans win, they likely move into the No. 8 spot, and the 49ers drop to the No. 9 spot, due to the strength of schedule tiebreaker.

1. Cleveland Browns (2-8) - .514
2. Tennessee Titans (2-7) - .500
3. Baltimore Ravens (2-7) - .507
4. San Diego Chargers (2-7) - .510
5. Detroit Lions (2-7) - .531
6. Dallas Cowboys (2-7) - .558
7. Jacksonville Jaguars (3-6) - .476
8. San Francisco 49ers (3-6) - .534
9. Houston Texans (3-5) - .528
10. New Orleans Saints (4-6) - .514

The San Francisco 49ers have some winnable games that could cost them a top ten pick, but for now, they have a significant shot at a pretty high draft pick. With that in mind, I decided to put together some draft prospect lists. Greg Timor and Jake Narayan have been providing analysis of various positions and players over the first 11 weeks of the college football season. However, last night I asked them to put together their current top ten list of draft prospects. The 49ers top ten likely looks different based on their own scouting as well as their own needs. For now though, here are top ten rankings from Greg and Jake, as well as friend of the site Matt Miller, and CBS Sports.
