The San Francisco 49ers lost a player from their practice to the Tennessee Titans Tuesday morning, and now another player has left the practice squad. The St. Louis Rams announced they have signed center Brian Folkerts to their 53-man roster. This followed the Tennessee Titans decision to sign wide receiver Andrew Turzilli. It's a mildly interesting coincidence, as the 49ers signed Folkerts and Turzilli to their practice squad on the same day, October 13.
The Rams offensive line has been a bit of a mess this season, and they also signed Eric Kush to the 53-man roster. They lost multiple players to injured reserve, and need any bodies they can find. It is intriguing they would add a 49ers practice squad offensive lineman. The 49ers took a while to finally get Andrew Tiller on to the active roster, and he is slowly working his way into the starting lineup.
Jim Tomsula has talked about shaking up the offensive line, and we have seen a slow shake-up over the past month or so. Andrew Tiller has gotten opportunities, and Trenton Brown got his first snaps against the Atlanta Falcons. It will be interesting to see if the 49ers starting offensive line looks any different against Seattle. My guess is Tiller is in the starting lineup at right guard, and Erik Pears remains the right tackle. Would they actually do a rotation in the raucous environment that is CenturyLink Field?
