Carlos Hyde injury: 49ers running back ruled out vs. Seahawks

The San Francisco 49ers will be without Carlos Hyde for a third straight game. We break down the latest on his status.

The San Francisco 49ers have ruled running back Carlos Hyde OUT for Sunday's game against the Seattle Seahawks. Jim Tomsula said he will not travel with the team to Seattle this weekend.

This is not a surprising development given Hyde's continued absence from practice. Tomsula had said he would practice on Wednesday, but he said on Friday that the training staff decided on the practice field to sit him down. His last game was against the Seahawks, and this means he will be missing his third game, and fourth week (including the bye). Tomsula was asked about potential surgery, and Tomsula would not address that and his status moving forward.

Shaun Draughn got the start two weeks ago against the Atlanta Falcons, and it seems likely we can expect another start for him this weekend. The running back depth chart includes Draughn, Kendall Gaskins, and recent addition Travaris Cadet. Gaskins will likely get some work, and Cadet would be a bit more of a third down option for the passing game. He could get some looks on special teams as well.
