Good morning everyone. I apologize profusely for writing an article about Mike Singletary yesterday, but at least the San Francisco 49ers will get to play today, which could be a good thing or a really, really bad one. Obviously, the Colin Kaepernick news was the big thing yesterday, and I have some complicated thoughts. They boil down like this, though: it's good that it's ending this way for both parties.
For the 49ers, it means Kaepernick's career is done and it means they won't try and make him work with whatever offensive coaching staff they have next year. I hope it's not the same one regardless, but I think it's now time to move on from Kaepernick and not try to include him in the picture in 2016 and onward. It's good for Kaepernick because he has multiple games with which to point to that he was injured in, and it also means recovery from a torn labrum makes the April 1 date for his contract guarantees very interesting.
Which is, of course, bad for the 49ers. I don't mean to sound unethical here, but if I'm Kaepernick, I make sure it's a nice, slow recovery and pick up a tasty $11.9 million check next year. But I'm also very poor, as most of my money goes to Funko Pops and beard products so I can keep up with Fooch.
Anyway, today the 49ers play the rival Seattle Seahawks. I don't know if it will be a good game, but I am hoping NaVorro Bowman comes out of it looking good. I hope he has an excellent game, even if the 49ers as a whole do not. A couple bad fans shouldn't poison the lot, but the Seahawks fans throwing popcorn on an injured Bowman just makes my blood boil.
Kick some ass, Bowman. Go Niners!
