NFL Draft order 2016: 49ers loss improves draft position

The San Francisco 49ers are slowly climbing the 2016 NFL Draft order. Their loss to the Seattle Seahawks bumped them up another spot.

The San Francisco 49ers dropped another loss on Sunday, losing 29-13 to the Seattle Seahawks. The loss dropped the 49ers to 3-7, and the season gets uglier yet again. The 49ers will probably find some ways to win some games, but this team is not remotely decent.

The upside to the losses is improved draft position. The 49ers actually have to do something positive with the draft pick, but at least they will probably have a solid enough pick. Their loss on Sunday, coupled with a handful of wins by teams ahead of them, has resulted in the 49ers moving from No. 7 to No. 6.

The 49ers are currently tied with Baltimore, Detroit, and Dallas, which means it goes to strength of schedule. The 49ers have a fairly strong SOS, but it is weaker than the Cowboys. They are closing in on the Lions, although it is entirely possible the 49ers-Lions Week 16 matchup could very well decide the spot between the two of them.

Here is the full draft order for the teams up to one game back of the 49ers. Monday Night Football features the 9-0 New England Patriots hosting the 5-4 Buffalo Bills. It could impact SOS a bit, but not a huge amount.

1. Cleveland Browns (2-8) - .497
2. San Diego Chargers (2-8) - .513
3. Tennessee Titans (2-8) - .519
4. Baltimore Ravens (3-7) - .491
5. Detroit Lions (3-7) - .516
6. San Francisco 49ers (3-7) - .525
7. Dallas Cowboys (3-7) - .541
8. Miami Dolphins (4-6) - .481
9. Oakland Raiders (4-6) - .481
10. Jacksonville Jaguars (4-6) - .487
11. St. Louis Rams (4-6) - .500
12. Washington (4-6) - .506
13. Chicago Bears (4-6) - .509
14. Philadelphia Eagles (4-6) - .525
15. New Orleans Saints (4-6) - .531

The 49ers host the Arizona Cardinals this week, with the latter coming off a Sunday Night Football win over the Cincinnati Bengals. The Cardinals are going to be sizable favorites, even on the road, but I do wonder if they potentially slip up. I could see the 49ers keeping it close for a while, and then eventually falling apart, but we'll see. In the meantime, here's a look at the pertinent games on the Week 12 schedule. There are quite a few potentially intriguing games on the schedule.

Eagles (4-6) @ Lions (3-7)
Panthers (10-0) @ Cowboys (3-7)
Bears (4-6) @ Packers (7-3)
Raiders (4-6) @ Titans (2-8)
