Golden Nuggets: Kap Benched For Gabbert

News that should surprise no one finally materialized with the benching of quarterback Colin Kaepernick for Sunday's game against the Atlanta Falcons. Former 1st round pick of the Jaguars, Blaine Gabbert, will start in Kap's place. This move picked up steaming after every bad throw and game that Kap had this season. This may signal the end of Colin Kaepernick's time on the 49ers. The contract he signed makes him easily expendable. The team can release him in the offseason and move forward.

Colin was in for an uphill battle after Jim Harbaugh was dismissed from the team. Colin was Jim's guy. Jim was quick to dismiss Alex Smith for Kap and it launched the 49ers to the Super Bowl instantly. He had great games in the playoffs and looked to be a franchise quarterback. The tires started falling off last year. He regressed and has lost all the confidence he had.

The biggest news of the day before the Kap benching was the trade of Vernon Davis. Vernon was traded to the Denver Broncos with a 2016 7th round pick for the Broncos' 2016 and 2017 6th round picks. Vernon had an up and down career with the Niners. He started off slow before he took off in 2009. But last season, his production nose dived and he even looked uninterested. He needed a change of scenery. Going to the Broncos and Peyton Manning may resurrect his career.
