The San Francisco 49ers and Atlanta Falcons released their final injury reports, and the 49ers have some significant issues heading into the game. None of the issues are surprising on the final injury report, but they remain issues nonetheless.
Carlos Hyde, Mike Davis, and L.J. McCray have all been ruled out. Davis and McCray had surgery recently, while Hyde is dealing with a stress fracture. I did not think the team would be stupid enough to sit Hyde last week and play him this week right before the bye, but you never know. With this news, we now know that Kendall Gaskins, Pierre Thomas, and Shaun Draughn will be in the running back rotation on Sunday.
Anquan Boldin is listed as doubtful, which means he has no more than a 25 percent chance of playing. Generally speaking, that means he will not play. Jerome Simpson and Quinton Patton will get most of the snaps opposite Torrey Smith. Of course, the tight end situation could mean more three receiver sets. Garrett Celek is listed as questionable due to a concussion. Barring any symptoms this weekend, I expect him to play on Sunday.
On the defensive side of the ball, both Kenneth Acker and Keith Reaser are listed as questionable. Acker is going through the concussion protocol and did not practice at all this week. Celek was limited on Thursday and Friday, which would indicate he stands a good chance of playing. Acker is unlikely to play. Reaser was competing with Dontae Johnson for the starting role opposite Tramaine Brock, but his ankle injury might cost him a starting opportunity. If he can't go, we might see Marcus Cromartie get promoted from the practice squad on Saturday.
