Golden Nuggets: So it has come to Blaine Gabbert, 49ers fans

Saturday, November 7th, 2015 edition of the Golden Nuggets, a daily compilation of San Francisco 49ers links from around the Internet.

Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sports

Good morning folks, hope you're having a wonderful day and not at all thinking about Blaine Gabbert. Whichever jerk usually does the Golden Nuggets on Saturday isn't available on account of him being a jerk, so I'm here to cover and all I can think about is how ludicrous it feels to write about Gabbert playing meaningful football in 2015.

I have to say, I'm among those opposed to Gabbert getting any playing time. He's a foregone conclusion at this stage -- we know exactly what he brings to the table and we know there is no 49ers future where Gabbert is leading the team to wins that actually matter. I'm a firm believer in only doing things that advances the future of the football team and while Colin Kaepernick is rapidly approaching the "lost cause" column, Gabbert has been in it for more than a year.

It's depressing and frustrating and it makes writing about this team, let alone watching it, difficult. But if it's Gabbert who will be under center on Sunday then it's Gabbert I will be cheering for when the game gets under way. He's a 49er, and while I'm not a fan of the organizational leadership at this stage, I'm not going to led someone like Jed York push me away when I've already sat through a whole lot of awful seasons. It gets a lot worse than this.
