Reggie Bush to sue city of St. Louis over MCL injury from concrete at Rams stadium

San Francisco 49ers running back Reggie Bush tore his MCL a week and a half ago against the St. Louis Rams, and the circumstances of the injury are expected to lead to litigation. Jason LaCanfora is reporting Bush hired lawyer Shawn Holley of the KWIKA law firm, and plans on suing the city of St. Louis for some form of negligence. The city would be the defendant because they own the stadium.

Bush slipped on a concrete track that wraps around the Rams field at the Edward Jones Dome. His injury followed Josh McCown's own injury running into the wall at the edge of the concrete. Bush tore his MCL on the injury and his season is over. At his age, and given his injury history, this could mark the end of his NFL career.

LaCanfora suggests Bush might sue for gross negligence given that this was not the first incident on the surface. Damages would be interesting to consider for Bush. He was signed to a one-year deal, and his NFL career was not exactly expected to last a whole lot longer. I think he has a winnable case given McCown's previous injury, and the fact that players do often end up that far off the field at the end of some plays. The bigger question is how much in damages.

Holley is fairly well known for work with celebrity clients. She was part of O.J. Simpson's defense team, and her bio lists clients including Michelle Rodriquez, the Kardashian sisters, "CSI" star, Gary Dourdan, Black Panther leader Geronimo Pratt Michael Jackson, Tupac Shakur, Snoop Dogg, Axl Rose, Jesse McCartney, Mike Tyson, and "Sugar" Ray Leonard. She is also chief legal correspondent for the E! Network.
