The San Francisco 49ers secondary is facing some serious issues in Week 9. The team has deactivated cornerbacks Tramaine Brock (shin), Kenneth Acker (concussion), and Keith Reaser (ankle) leaving the team without its starting cornerbacks and one reserve. Dontae Johnson is expected to start at one cornerback position. The team promoted Marcus Cromartie and Chris Davis on Saturday. Given the injuries, both are likely to see a lot of playing time in Week 9. My guess is Cromartie starts opposite Johnson.
Carlos Hyde is inactive, and Mike Davis is on short term IR, leaving the team with Kendall Gaskins, Pierre Thomas and Shaun Draughn. I think we see Gaskins as the starter, but there will probably be a sizable rotation at the position.
Anquan Boldin is inactive for the second straight game. I would suspect we see plenty of Jerome Simpson and Quinton Patton opposite Torrey Smith. Garrett Celek is active after a concussion last week, so the team will not be limited in their extra tight end sets.
49ers inactives: WR Anquan Boldin, RB Carlos Hyde, CB Tramaine Brock, CB Kenneth Acker, OL Ian Silberman, OG Brandon Thomas, CB Keith Reaser
Falcons inactives: SS William Moore, CB Robert Alford, LB Justin Durant, WR Leonard Hankerson, C James Stone, DE Malliciah Goodman, OT Bryce Harris
