The San Francisco 49ers continue their rotation at right guard, and in Week 9 against the Atlanta Falcons we saw the most notable change thus far. Previously Andrew Tiller and Jordan Devey were splitting snaps. This week, the 49ers started with that rotation, but then they made a big change midway through the second quarter. Right tackle Erik Pears moved in at right guard, and rookie offensive tackle Trenton Brown moved in at right tackle.
I am not entirely sure what got this move made, but it is nice to see Brown get some chances at right tackle. I honestly would prefer seeing what a Brown-Tiller combination can do, but we'll take the baby steps. The drive with Pears and Brown resulted in a field goal, but we'll need to pull a Tomsula and check back on the film to figure out how each of them did.
The 49ers did not use Brown on the ensuing drive, so we will see if this rotation returns later in the game.
