If we were living in a perfect world, as far as I would see it, I'd have a lot of money and Blaine Gabbert would show me how wrong I can possibly be. The former thing won't ever happen, but the latter thing could and I think it's important to understand that when you read what I have to say about Gabbert and the future of the 49ers.
I wrote a piece for SB Nation on Thursday, and I was very critical of Gabbert and suggested that his relatively strong play could ultimately lull the 49ers into a false sense of security.
That would ultimately hurt the team, but I want to make it clear I am simply skeptical, and a lot of that has to do with a strange obsession with watching Jacksonville Jaguars games long before Gabbert ever joined the 49ers . It's not a vendetta, it's an opinion and I sincerely hope Gabbert proves me wrong. I hope when he does, people shout at me for it, because there's nothing I love more than people trying to rub it in that my favorite team is doing well.
The word "pessimistic" is overused here, especially by me, but it's fair to say I'm certainly pessimistic after the train wreck that wound up being Colin Kaepernick. But people were calling me out for harping on Kaepernick and calling him a bad quarterback last year ... and I sincerely hope I'm wrong this time around.
