Golden Nuggets: Terrible Showing In Cleveland

A week after a dramatic overtime win over the Chicago Bears, the 49ers came out as flat as a team can in Cleveland. The 49ers never showed up and lost 24-10, but the game felt much more out of reach than that score indicates. The Browns amassed 481 total yards to the Niners 221 yards. Johnny Manziel, given a second chance after some off the field issues, started and picked the Niners apart. On offense, the Niners couldn't muster anything and punted 7 out of their 11 times.

The Niners allowed Blaine Gabbert to be sacked 9 times by the Cleveland defense. The same Cleveland defense that had a total of 8 sacks all season long. The team had 127 yards for the game until a garbage time touchdown drive. Gabbert finished 18-28 passing and couldn't keep drives alive. The running game was non-existent against one of the worst run defenses in the league. The team was completely unprepared for Cleveland after beating Chicago last week.

The defense didn't fare any better. Without Aaron Lynch, the team generated little pass rush on Manziel and he was given too much time to throw. Receivers were found wide open all game long. The Browns running game also had a great day. Isaiah Crowell ran for a career high 145 yards and 2 touchdowns. The weekly discussion about the Niners bringing back Jim Tomsula and Blaine Gabbert continues next Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals at Levi's Stadium.
