The San Francisco 49ers and Detroit Lions released their first practice participation reports for Week 16, and there are a few notable names on the 49ers report. As expected, Shaun Draughn sat out practice. He said he is day-to-day with a knee sprain, and odds are pretty good he does not play on Sunday. Kendall Gaskins and DuJuan Harris would split snaps if he is inactive.
The biggest news of the week is probably the return of Aaron Lynch. He was listed as a full participant, and appears to be just about through the concussion protocol. He was listed as limited all three days last week, and never got out of the blue non-contact jersey. He was out of it on Wednesday, and looks to be on pace to play this weekend against the Lions.
Speaking of the concussion protocol, Marcus Martin is going through it, and did not practice on Wednesday. If he does not get through the protocol, the 49ers would likely start Erik Pears at right guard and Trenton Brown at right tackle. While I want to see Martin get through the protocol, I think a lot of us are intrigued by the idea of seeing Brown at right tackle. The 49ers have two games left to figure out what's next in the offseason. We won't have firm answers on Brown and others, but it will certainly provide us with a little something more to think about.
