We're back for Week 16 of Thursday Night Football! This is actually the final Thursday game of the season, and the matchup is kind of fitting. The Oakland Raiders play host to the San Diego Chargers, in a matchup of two teams potentially moving to Los Angeles in the near future. The game kicks off at 5:30 p.m. PT on NFL Network.
The Raiders and Chargers have been working together to try and figure out a plan for a new stadium in Los Angeles. They are competing with the St. Louis Rams for one or two spots in the huge television market. The NFL has worked all these markets over looking for the best deal. It is smart business to push for whatever public money can be found, but it is still ridiculous how the NFL has handled the whole situation. The Chargers played their home finale last week, and today's game marks the Raiders home finale. It could be the last home game in San Diego and Oakland for either team, but the NFL has decided there's no need to give either market the courtesy of a proper send-off. I highly recommend giving this article a read.
The Raiders are a 5.5-point favorite, which is their biggest spread of the season. Even with that in mind, I think the Raiders cover this spread. The Chargers last home game was ripe with emotion, and I think they are due for a pretty big letdown. The Raiders have not done well as a home favorite, but I think they cover in this one. They get the emotion of their own home finale, and also Charles Woodson's final game in front of Raiders fans. I think emotion carries them in a big way.
