Jarryd Hayne active for 49ers vs. Lions

The San Francisco 49ers promoted Jarryd Hayne on Saturday, and he is active on Sunday to shore up the team's running back depth. We break down the Week 16 inactives.

The San Francisco 49ers and Detroit Lions released their Week 16 inactives, and as expected, running back Jarryd Hayne is active for the 49ers. The team promoted him from the practice squad on Saturday due to depth issues at the running back position.

Shaun Draughn injured his knee last week against the Cincinnati Bengals, which is why he is inactive today. The team signed DuJuan Harris off the Baltimore Ravens practice squad, and waived Travaris Cadet. That left them with two healthy running backs between Harris and Kendall Gaskins. It remains to be seen how busy Hayne will be on Sunday, but he will likely get some snaps.

One interesting bit of news is that Corey Lemonier is inactive. Aaron Lynch is back from his concussion, and Eli Harold will be the only backup at outside linebacker.

49ers inactives: WR Jerome Simpson, RB Shaun Draughn, CB Chris Davis, LB Michael Wilhoite, OG Brandon Thomas, OL Marcus Martin, OLB Corey Lemonier

Lions inactives: WR Corey Fuller, RB George Winn, OT Corey Robinson, DT Jermelle Cudjo, DT Gabe Wright, OC Gabe Ikard, CB Bill Bentley
