We are back for more bowl mania. The49ers have tons of needs on both sides of the ball, but primarily, they need a quarterback. Cal is just the place to look for one of those. Highly touted Jared Goff looks to be the best quarterback prospect since Andrew Luck, who was drafted in 2011. It is a busy day of bowl games, but given the interest in Goff and the fact that Cal is a Bay Area team, it makes sense to have a stand-alone thread for their bowl game.

The high-octane Cal offense has yet another shot to shine today. The departure of many impact players including linebacker Michael Barton, receivers Darius Powe and Bryce Treggs, and possibly highly touted quarterback Jared Goff should provide extra motivation for the staff and athletes. Head coach Sonny Dykes recently inked his way to stay through the 2019 season. Dykes has risen the Bears from the dead -- in his first season, they finished with a 1-11 record. This past year was California's first winning campaign since 2012, the year Dykes took over. The Golden Bears embarked on a five-game winning stretch, but then came around to lose four straight. Cal finished their season with a thrilling win over Arizona State, and they have no signs or intentions of letting up soon (coming from a Cal homer).
