The Jacksonville Jaguars owner, Shad Khan, met with the media on Tuesday and announced that head coach Gus Bradley will be retained for the 2016 season. The Jaguars head coach has one year remaining on his deal, and through his first three seasons has gone 4-12, 3-13 and 5-10. The team has found its quarterback of the future in Blake Bortles, but still has plenty more issues to figure out.
When Khan announced his decision to bring back Bradley, he said expectations would be considerably higher, and ESPN writer Mike DiRocco inferred that would likely mean a winning record would be necessary for any kind of extension. It will be interesting to see what San Francisco 49ers CEO Jed York has to say about head coach Jim Tomsula in his own end of season press conference. York said several weeks back he would not answer football questions during the season, but would be available to the media after the season. I would hope it will be the Monday or Tuesday following the Sunday finale, but we probably will not find out for certain until Sunday night or Monday morning.
We'll have a prediction thread once we know when the press conference will happen. The predictions will focus more on what will be said in the likely event that Tomsula is retained for the 2016 season. I imagine we hear Jed talk about the roster turnover and injuries, but that expectations remain high, and they will be looking for improvement next year. I would hope he is not stupid enough to reference hanging Super Bowl banners again.
