Could a former member of the 49ers organization make a return to the franchise in 2016? If Mike Holmgren had his way, he would. Reports surfaced on Monday that Mike Holmgren, who worked for the Niners from 1986-1991, is very interested in the head coaching job. This is not the 1st time this report has come out. When Jim Harbaugh was let go, reports also surfaced that Holmgren was interested, but he was not called. This time, it looks like there will not be a vacancy due to reports stating that Jim Tomsula will be given another year to turn the team around.

On Tuesday, future draft pick Jared Goff played a bowl game and gave Niners a possible glimpse to their future QB. He threw for 467 yards and 6 TDs to lead Cal to a bowl win in what may be his last game in college. Speculation has risen that the Niners will be looking for their future QB in the draft and the local QB could be the one they take. Could the team pass up another QB from Cal early in the draft when the QB position is an area they need to address? Anything is possible with this team.
