49ers-Rams injury report: Marcus Martin limited, Quinton Dial sits out practice

The San Francisco 49ers and St. Louis Rams posted their first practice participation reports of the week on Wednesday, which you can review below. The most notable news is probably that Marcus Martin was listed as a limited participant. He sat out all last week, and head coach Jim Tomsula suggested he would miss Wednesday as well. However, he was wearing the blue non-contact jersey, which means he has advanced in the concussion protocol. He has not cleared it, and if he remains in the blue non-contact jersey all week, he would probably end up inactive.

Quinton Dial will be a name to watch on Thursday and Friday. I suspect he will practice one or both days, but the back injury is a new one. He and Ian Williams have been key cogs on a defensive line that has looked solid for stretches. They have been arguably the most consistent members of a defense that has struggled with consistency.

On the Rams side of things, Mark Barron is in the concussion protocol. He suffered the injury this past Sunday, so he has to progress through the full steps of the program before he can be cleared to play.
