Anquan Boldin moves past 13,000 career receiving yards

The San Francisco 49ers win over the Chicago Bears included Anquan Boldin surpassing a notable number. Boldin caught five receptions for 37 yards. The yards pushed him up to 13,001 career receiving yards. The receptions moved him up to 989 career receptions.

Boldin is now 88 yards back of Steve Largent for No. 17 on the career receiving yards list. It's kind of crazy because Largent retired as the all-time leader in receiving yards. Of course, in the 26 years since he retired, rule changes have completely changed the passing game. There are four active players ahead of Largent, including Larry Fitzgerald, Andre Johnson, Steve Smith and Reggie Wayne. Once Boldin potentially moves past Largent, Andre Reed will be the next retired player, with 13,198 yards. Torry Holt has 13,382, which is probably too much for Boldin to get to this season.

Boldin's 989 career receptions has him No. 13 in NFL history, a mere 11 short of 1,000. Larry Fitzgerald is one spot ahead of him with 992, and Jason Witten is ahead of Fitzgerald with 998. Hines Ward is next at 1,000, followed by Isaac Bruce at 1,024. Those two are not out of the realm of the possible for Boldin, but we'll see what the next four weeks brings for him.
