The San Francisco 49ers won an overtime game against the Chicago Bears and 2 coaches that were on the shortlist for their vacant head coaching job last offseason. Blaine Gabbert hit Torrey Smith for a 71 yard walkoff touchdown to end the game and give the Niners their 1st road win of the season.

The last 3 drives were entertaining to say the least. With the game tied at 13, Chicago took the lead on a 83 yard drive. The Niners followed that up by driving 64 yards to tie the game at 20 capped off by a 44 yard scramble for the touchdown by Blaine Gabbert. The Bears defense seemed to think that Gabbert would slide, but he didn't and he was gone to the end zone. On the ensuing kickoff, the Bears were right back in business when the 49ers special teams allowed the Bears to take back the kick 74 yards to the Niners 28 yard line with a minute and 32 seconds left. The Bears rushed the ball down to the Niners 18 yard line and brought out Robbie Gould to kick a 36 yard field goal to win it with 2 seconds left. Instead, Robbie shanked the kick left to hand the Niners a lifeline. In overtime, both teams had a possession. On the 1st possession of the 2nd overtime drive for the Niners, they ended the game.

Again, the Niners offense started off slowly. Luckily, the defense traveled to Chicago and was there to help out. Jimmie Ward jumped a quick route and ran a pick back 29 yards for the 49ers opening touchdown, which tied the game at 6. The offense was fairly pedestrian until Gabbert's game winning pass. Until that moment, he had passed for 125 yards. He also led the team in rushing after his 44 yard touchdown. He continues to show good athletic ability. Next up for the Niners are the Cleveland Browns.
